Our new Captain, Mr Chris Wills yesterday started his year with the Club’s traditional drive in day . 27 teams played in the Morning Texas Scramble and 15 teams in the afternoon. The weather was exceptional during the day with hardly a cloud in the sky.
Chris brought his own style of humour to proceedings by wearing his own “carry me costume” which was a Bavarian waiter, although Graeme Ross believed it to be a Leprechaun!
This did not prevent Chris from striking the ball of the first tee with some aplomb, which gave rise to some thoughts that Chris should wear this or something similar every time he tees the ball up!
Richard Ashford won the Captain’s nearest the Drive Competition, there is no truth in the rumour that it was half a bottle Asti Spumante, it was in fact a very nice bottle of Lanson Champagne.
The Captain has chosen Rowcroft as his charity this year, a very worth while cause and we are delighted to announce that the days activities along with the members generosity raised £793.00 – a great start!
The evening prize giving started with the presentation of Susie Jordain Trophy and Plate competitions held throughout the winter of 2016/17. The winners of the Trophy were Barry and (the lady Captain) Jacquie Bayley.
The Plate winners were David and Carol Bonner.
