Sunday 8th January saw Callum Job officially take over as Churston’s Junior Captain for 2017.
Supported by a large crowd, including Lady Captain Jacqui Bayley & Club Vice Captain Chris Wills, Callum showed no nerves with a pin-high drive that finished just off the right-hand side of the green resulting in junior, Lottie Tooley, winning the Drive-In prize.
Sixteen year old Brixham College student Callum has been playing golf for six years and chose to raise funds for local charity the Trevor Ward Foundation which provides financial support to young and aspiring athletes. Callum, supported by Trevor Ward’s son Tim, Chairman of the Foundation, got his fundraising off to a great start, raising £222 on the day.
The traditional “4 clubs and a putter” competition again left many questioning why they normally carry so many clubs. Topping the leader-board again following his recent ‘Christmas Tankard’ success the best junior score was Brendan Crawford with a stunning 59 points, followed by Lottie Tooley with 40pts and Lucia Woodall on 38pts. The adult prize went to Stuart Shipley with another great score of 46pts, second place went to Royston Woodall with 37pts just having the edge over Ian Plumridge on bb9.
